Lobby, food and drinks in Movie theaters
Now-a-days, the movie theater connotes much more than simply watching a movie of your choice. Gone are the days when you take the trip to the nearest theater just to enjoy a movie. Earlier, you also did not hesitate to cover the distance to get to see a particular movie you want to watch. Then, it was your sheer love for the movies that made you queue up for the tickets outside the theaters.
But today’s men and women want more than that. At present, watching a movie is associated with having a good time of fun that involves having foods and drinks. Catering to this demand, owners of theaters, multiplexes and megaplexes have made arrangements for providing snacks, drinks and dinner.
In most of the megaplexes, you would come across a lobby area, where there are arrangements for snacks counter and coffee machines to one side. You would also come across a full-fledged bar for people to enjoy their drinks before the start of the movie. In the multiplexes, although multiple snacks counters are put at different places, the common bars and restaurants for visitor to all the auditoriums are strategically placed.
In some theaters, waiters and waitresses take orders for the food that is to be supplied during the screening from the audiences before the beginning of the show. The type of food supplied is mostly in the form of dry snacks or fruits only – thus obviating the need of any knives and forks. This is done taking into account the fact that having all types of foods inside the theater would come in the way of enjoying the movie by you and it would also be a nuisance to others. The waiters also take care to make their movements inside the theater as unobtrusive as possible so as not disturb people from enjoying the movie. The payments for the food are collected outside, after the screening is over.
Many multiplexes and megaplexes have fully functional restaurants inside the complex. The theater owners believe that some of the people, who come to watch the movie, would also want to have their dinner there. Reportedly, most of the restaurants and bars inside the multiplexes do brisk business, which justifies their assessment.
So, the movie in the theater is no more the only matter of attraction. The food, drinks, the lobby and the whole ambiance of the theater compliment it.
